End of the Rainbow Treasure Hunt

Age Group: 
  • Preschool
  • School-Age
Objectives:
  • Student will develop gross motor skills
  • Student will engage in cooperative play with peers 
CDA Competency Standard:  II.4.1a
  • Activities, materials and equipment encourage children of varying abilities to develop their large muscles
a) Gross motor skills are encouraged through developmentally appropriate materials, equipment and indoor/outdoor activities
Materials: 
  • Rocks
  • Gold spray paint  
Procedure: 
  1. Prepare for the activity by collecting and spray painting rocks gold.
  2. Allow to dry
  3. Hide the rocks around an outside space
  4. Review myths about leprechauns with students.
  5. Go outside with students and encourage them to find the “gold”    
Assessment: 
  • Observe and record the student’s gross motor skills.
